Doug is a Principal in Invariant’s government relations practice. With over two decades of experience in policy, politics, and law, he provides clients with effective solutions in an ever-changing policy arena. 

Focus Areas 

• Designing and implementing federal policy engagement strategies to enable clients to effectively engage with the executive and legislative branches. 

• Advising on addressing congressional investigations and preparing for appearances before congressional committees. 

• Working with clients to develop attainable plans to reach strategic federal public policy goals. 

Prior to joining Invariant, Doug was a Presidentially-nominated, Senate-confirmed commissioner on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. He also served as the majority staff director on the Senate Budget Committee, legislative directors for Senators Mike Enzi (R-WY) and George Voinovich (R-OH), and General Counsel on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.  Doug also practiced energy, antitrust, regulatory, and political law at several international law firms.
