Joey Smith is an experienced Republican operative who helps Invariant’s digital asset and blockchain technology clients navigate the regulatory and legislative landscape. Joey also works on issues ranging from tax and financial services to energy and artificial intelligence. 

Focus Areas 

• Developing and executing federal policy engagement strategies for clients’ policy priorities before Congress and the Administration. 

• Educating Congress and Administration officials on digital assets policy initiatives. 

• Creating and implementing political giving strategies to further advance policy objectives in D.C. 

Joey joined Invariant after serving as director of operations for then-Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin for four years. Before that, Joey was a vice president at the Financial Services Roundtable, where he managed strategic content development and federal government engagement efforts. Additionally, on the Romney for President campaign, Joey directed national campaign event operations for the vice-presidential candidate. He began his career during the George W. Bush Administration at the Interior Department and the Republican National Committee.
