Matthew Gallagher leads the strategic communications and public affairs team in Invariant’s Washington, D.C., office. With more than 25 years of experience working at communications firms and in government at the federal and local levels, Matthew directs client strategy, manages campaign engagements, and drives business growth.

Before joining Invariant, Matthew held several leadership roles at BCW (formerly Burson), including head of the North America corporate practice and senior growth leader for its corporate, crisis, and public affairs practices. Prior to BCW, Matthew spent a decade at APCO Worldwide, serving as managing director of the Chicago office and overseeing the firm’s operations in the Midwest and Western United States, managing client relationships, staffing, marketing, and community engagement across 30 states. Earlier in his career, Matthew spent over a decade in California politics and as a legislative aide in the U.S. House of Representatives.
